Sulphite ammonia caramel (Caramel IV - sulfite ammonia process, Sulfite amonia caramel)
May cause or aggravate these conditions: gastrointestinal disorders
A mixture of brown dyes, which is obtained by dry heating and burning sugar with an alkali, ammonia, sulphite or combinations thereof. A significant quantity consumed can cause intestinal problems. Due to complex nature of these mixtures, toxicological tests in order to assess their harm to human body are still continuing.
May cause or aggravate these conditions: allergy, asthma, hyperactivity
Normal constituent of many fruits and vegetables. Commercially produced from phosphate mined in the US. Phosphates are part of the body salt content. In order to avoid calcium deficiency, it should be of limited use because of its ability to bind calcium.
